Christophe Berra has accepted Hearts are "hot favourites" for the Scottish Championship title this season, and says he wants to be part of a successful season for the club.

The 35-year-old defender spent part of last season out on loan at Dundee, but says he's determined to fight for a spot in Robbie Neilson's starting eleven.

Berra is back at Hearts ahead of the 2020/21 campaign, and he told BBC Scotland the Jambos will need to fight every week to ensure it's going to be a successful season.

He said: "Everyone expects us to go back up but you need to earn the right and all the teams we go up against will be trying their hardest.

"We need to make sure we have the right attitude and application. We have a lot of good players and we go in with confidence. Hopefully the new manager brings that bit extra."
